"This one is telling the story of our little Reef Crabs – on the Great Barrier Reef – So [at the top] here you have the yellow of the sand and where the sand flows in to the water, and you can see the movement of the sand. And the blues and light blues and yellows (at left) represent the colours of the coral on the Great Barrier Reef and the shallow water with the sand.

And in the coral reef, this is where our little Coral Crab and the Reef Crab lives. So the Reef Crab comes out and he’s looking around for his food source. Here [also], we have the little jelly fish and you can see one up to the left, down on the right and another one over the reef. They’re only the little small Jellyfish we call Yirrganydji and Yirrganydji is named by the science authority but also after one of our clan groups around the Cairns area; we have the Djabuganydji, Yirrganydji and Yidinji.

The Yirrganydji is the little sting of the Jellyfish and our people up there have the shields that have the little spike on the shields and the pattern which means the sting of the Scorpion and the Jellyfish – don’t fight with me, or you’re going to feel the sting!
So, Yirrganydji is a little deadly Jellyfish and the little Reef Crabs that eat the Jellyfish live in the coral along the reef."
