"In the Rainforest, you see all the greens and the circles of life force, and here you’ll see the python. Now all our animals in our land are camouflaged within their environments, so you have to know where to look and that protects them and we became more astute at looking, and tracking and finding things.

The Python is known for sitting very quietly in the trees and looking out with a lot of wisdom and knowledge because he surveys the whole area. And what does the Python like to eat? In the freshwater – the little freshwater frogs in the Rainforest, so he’s hovering around looking down at the frogs.

Here, this is also a place for our people to hunt and gather so you can see the little circles with the footprints and they are represented as song lines. Song lines are maps of the land, we moved around, we didn’t stay in one place and destroy and eat everything, when we took so much we realised alright now we got to let this place regenerate and it’s time to move on. So the footprints are moving around the song lines.

And you can also see, again, there a three women sitting with their coolamons and digging sticks collecting the food source through the Rainforest and the little hands are saying: we belong to this land. So it’s a story of a tree python in the rainforest, how he sits quietly, and then the freshwater with the little rainforest frogs. And camouflaged, if you look, there’s a hand in here [one of the life force circles on the left] and that bigger hand camouflaged in the rainforest pattern is saying; we belong to this land, and that’s my grandson, Zhayvarne, and that’s his hand because he was born in Cairns around that area in the rainforest."
